SNIA Europe Endorses the European Union Code of Conduct for Data Centres and Strengthens its Green Credentials

The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Europe is endorsing the EU Code of Conduct on Data Centre Energy Efficiency. This initiative is focused on providing a set of voluntary measures and a list of best practices related to datacentre energy efficiency which are expected to lead to more stringent compliance guidelines in the future. The Code of Conduct will bring the issue of ‘greening' datacentres to the attention of EMEA businesses. This will help organisations minimise energy consumption in their datacentres whilst allowing them to maintain high performance across their IT infrastructures.

FibreSpan Connects to Interxion’s London City Data Centre

Interxion says that FibreSpan, a network carrier specialising in dark fibre and ultra-high-bandwidth services, has successfully connected its network to Interxion's London City data centre. The addition of FibreSpan's dedicated dark fibre network to Interxion's London City data centre brings its total portfolio of carriers to 32, offering Interxion's customers an even wider range of connectivity options. In addition, FibreSpan's customers are now able to locate their mission-critical systems in one of the most desirable colocation facilities in the UK.

Freecom partners with Ingram Micro

Freecom, a Mitsubishi Kagaku Media company, has announced a partnership with Ingram Micro, the world's largest technology distributor. The partnership will see the distributor offer Freecom's award-winning range of external hard drives and portable storage devices to its large customer base of retailers and B2B resellers in the UK. The UK addition is the latest stage of Freecom and Ingram Micro's existing pan-European relationship.

Equinix earns LEED Certification for Silicon Valley Data Centre
